Kong is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to own and evolve the Cloud Gateways platform – a multi‑tenant, cloud‑native SaaS foundation for its managed API and AI gateway services. The role blends deep systems engineering, SRE, and technical leadership to drive reliability, scalability and operational excellence at global scale.

What You'll Likely Work On
- Define and evolve the architecture of the Cloud Gateways platform across Kubernetes and multiple public clouds
- Drive platform reliability by setting and monitoring SLIs/SLOs, managing error budgets and leading incident response
- Build automation for provisioning, lifecycle management, fleet‑wide upgrades and configuration orchestration
- Improve observability, capacity planning and cloud‑resource efficiency through tooling and automation
- Lead cross‑functional technical initiatives, mentor engineers and conduct architecture reviews
- Influence platform strategy and technical direction across global engineering teams
