Ovii's Interpretation of the Role
We’re looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to build and scale the mechanical supply chain that powers Origin’s autonomous construction robots. You’ll own end‑to‑end sourcing, vendor development and rapid‑prototype support to deliver 80 robots in a year.

What You'll Likely Work On
- Source, evaluate and negotiate mechanical components (CNC, sheet metal, castings, wheels, fasteners, surface treatments) with suppliers in India and China.
- Build and maintain an Approved Vendor List and develop a resilient multi‑geography supplier base.
- Align mechanical BOMs with engineering specifications, drive GD&T, tolerances, material specs and enable rapid‑prototype deliveries within five days.
- Conduct vendor audits, capability assessments and implement performance scorecards covering quality, OTIF and cost.
- Lead First Article Inspection and dimensional reviews, coordinating engineering and supplier QA.
- Identify cost‑reduction opportunities through should‑cost modelling, RFQs and material rationalisation targeting 30‑40% savings.
- Maintain procurement trackers, lead‑time master, inventory visibility and risk dashboards for the mechanical category.
- Support long‑term vendor development for future robot versions and scale‑up to 200 units per year.
Good Fit If You Have
- Hands‑on global sourcing experience, especially in China.
- Strong familiarity with CNC processes, sheet‑metal forming, welding, casting and surface‑treatment techniques.
- Ability to read 2D drawings and 3D CAD models with GD&T.
- Deep knowledge of material selection for metals and plastics.
- Track record of cost‑optimisation and supplier performance improvement.
