Ovii's Interpretation of the Role
The Lighting Artist will craft high‑quality real‑time lighting for games, own lighting for assigned scenes, and support peers through feedback and coordination. The role is fully remote within Canada and reports to Art Direction while collaborating across art, technical and production teams.

Must-Have Requirements
- Unreal Engine (or modern real‑time engine)
- Real‑time lighting fundamentals
- Dynamic/baked lighting, GI, reflections, volumetrics, color grading
- Physically based rendering knowledge
- Lighting optimization basics
- Portfolio or reel demonstrating lighting work
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Professional experience creating lighting for games or real‑time projects
- Experience using Unreal Engine or another modern real‑time engine
- Experience lighting gameplay environments or interactive scenes
Nice-to-Have Signals
- Co‑development / outsourcing experience
- Shipped PC or console title
- Experience across realistic and stylized pipelines
- Prior lighting point‑person or feature owner role
- Mentoring junior artists

What You'll Likely Work On
- Create high‑quality real‑time lighting for environments, levels, cinematics, characters and interactive sequences
- Own lighting for assigned scenes from initial setup through final polish, meeting visual and technical quality bars
- Translate art direction, gameplay requirements and client feedback into effective lighting solutions
- Review and give constructive feedback on other artists’ lighting work, ensuring consistency and standards
- Identify artistic, technical or production risks early and communicate them to leads
- Collaborate with Art Directors, Technical Artists, VFX, Designers, Engineers, Producers and external partners
- Work with Technical Art and Engineering to meet performance budgets and platform constraints
- Contribute reusable lighting setups, templates, documentation and pipeline best practices
